Description
After a few weeks of testing Yonex Poly Tour Pro our team couldn’t help but marvel at how far polyester strings have come. As you will glean from our comments, what separates this string from earlier generations of polyesters is both the friendlier feel and longer lasting playability. Thankfully, the control we’ve come to expect from polyester was there in spades. Our two playtesters were able to achieve maximum stroke speed without having to worry about the ball flying unpredictably. The freedom to swing big not only made it easier to finish points, it gave our testers increased access to spin, resulting in some heavy balls with explosive bounces.
The Yonex Poly Tour Spin comes in a pentagonal shape for superior access to spin. The five sided string puts extra bite on the ball, increasing spin potential. The low powered precision is ideal for big hitters looking for control as well as spin.
The Yonex Poly Tour line was launched in 2005 with the original Poly Tour string. The Poly Tour line has steadily evolved over the years, featuring polyester strings with a variety of shapes and technologies, all designed to complement the explosive and spin-laden strokes of the modern power game. For 2018, Yonex adds Poly Tour Strike to the family, a round monofilament used by Canadian phenom Denis Shapovalov. Like the majority of Yonex polys, Poly Tour Strike is stretched under controlled temperatures during production. It also features a high molecular weight to enhance durability.
Yonex delivers an impressive combination of spin, control and feel to intermediate players. The VCORE Pro 97 (290) swings easier than the 310g and 330g versions, making it great for the rising intermediate who wants easy acceleration. With its thin 20mm beam, the feedback is exceptional. Like other members of the VCORE Pro family, this racket features Namd, which is a flexible carbon material used in strategic locations to optimize the response. Other technologies include Yonex’s time-tested Isometric head shape, which is designed to provide a larger, more forgiving hitting zone than conventionally shaped equivalents. It also comes with a Lock Booster System, which features raised ridges in the grommet strip for enhanced power.
